2021-22 Colorado Avalanche | St. John's Hometown Hero
On July 22, 2022, the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador witnessed a return for the ages. Over 10,000 passionate fans created a sea of jerseys to welcome their champion.
The journey began at the peak of Signal Hill on the North Head Trail. With the Atlantic Ocean and the historic Narrows as his backdrop, Alex hoisted the Cup, signaling the first time a St. John's native brought the trophy home to the capital.
A motorcade followed through the Quidi Vidi Village, where the crowds were standing room only. The celebration wound its way through the downtown harbor front, eventually landing at George Street for an electric championship fan-fest.
"Bringing the Cup home is a dream I've had since I first picked up a stick in Quidi Vidi. This belongs to everyone on the island." — Alex Newhook
